Dear Editor,
‘Hint to Baniba mek Quashiba tek notice’ – Old Guyanese proverb.
I refer to a letter by Mr Mahadeo Panchu under the caption ‘Something is just not right with the vehicle import statistics,’ published in the March 24 edition of the Stabroek News. In the letter he argues that the GRA should bypass the ‘NN,’ and ‘OO’ series in favour of ‘PPP’ after PMM/ GMM have expired.
In the final paragraph Mr Panchu suggests that “owning a vehicle with a PPP series can very well connote a People Progressing Progressively” in an election year, 2011.
I wish to posit that this can also imply Guyana accentuating a policy that embraces ‘Public Private Partnerships’ (PPP). Additionally, this country’s development will have an enhanced chance of economic success if such partnerships are implemented in tandem with our strategy to ‘Promote National Competitiveness’ (PNC).
Howz dat as a step towards inclusive governance?
Yours faithfully,
Derrick Cummings
