A young man was stabbed several times last evening not far from his home in North Ruimveldt reportedly by a miner with whom he had a misunderstanding last year.
Claudio Akeen, 19 of North Ruimveldt was being treated in the emergency room of the Georgetown Public Hospital up to press time. His mother, Nadira Singh told this newspaper that her son was at a street corner not far from his home when he was attacked at around 7:30pm. He sustained at least three stab wounds in his upper chest and was also slashed in his mouth, she said.
Singh said that her son was also attacked by the same man last year following a misunderstanding. She said that the man had chopped Akeen on his arm.
The attacker went into the interior following that attack, she related. She said that the man returned recently “and see he and he just start to juk he up.” After being told of the stabbing, Singh rushed her son to the hospital.
The tearful woman said last evening she did not have a chance to report the matter to the police but the incident last year was reported to the East La Penitence Police station.
