The Guyana and Trinidad Mutual Group of Insurance Companies (GTM) launched a new $52M branch yesterday at Plantain Walk, Vreed-en-hoop.
Minister of Finance Ashni Singh noted that the fact that a Guyanese business has been able to survive a century and a half of operation in an industry that has gone through turbulent times internationally could not have been an easy task.
“The opening of this branch signals that Guyanese companies are investing and expanding. It not only represents a significant investment but it brings to the Region Three community significant enhancements in the quality of service that will be delivered,” he was quoted as saying by the Government Information Agency (GINA) as saying.
GTM General Manager Roger Yee explained that the office was established mainly to provide easier access to the service for people of West Demerara. The new office will be opening its doors for service on April 12.
The new building at Plantain Walk, Yee explained, is a part of the entire modernisation process that GTM has embarked on over the years. It is also a symbol of the company’s continued commitment to providing superior service. This new branch, he said, is the second largest investment since the modernization process was commenced in 2006.
will also be extending its services to the residents of Lethem, Region Nine in the newly developed commercial zone. This project was launched since October 2009. GTM is made up of two companies, the GTM Fire Insurance Company and the GTM Life Insurance Company.
