Stabbed teen in stable condition

Claudio Akeen, the young man stabbed during an attack by a miner Wednesday night, is in a stable condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) and police are still looking for his attacker.

Akeen, 19, of North Ruimveldt, is currently a patient of the hospital’s Male Surgical Ward. His mother, Nadira Singh told Stabroek News Thursday that her son “looks much better” and doctors have indicated that he is out of danger. “I report the matter to the East La Penitence Police Station today [yesterday] but they ain’t manage to find the man who attack my son as yet,” Singh said.

Akeen was at a street corner not far from his home when he was attacked at around 7:30pm. He sustained three stab wounds in his upper chest and was also slashed in his mouth. Singh had also said that her son was attacked by the same man last year following a misunderstanding. She said that the man had chopped Akeen on his arm. The attacker went into the interior following that attack, she’d related. She said that the man returned recently “and see he and he just start to juk he up.”

“I am just glad that my son is alright now and I waiting to see if the police going to catch this man…I hope he don’t get away in the interior again,” Singh stated.
