Sterling Products Limited (SPL) has acquired the ISO (International Organisation of Standard) 9001:2008 certification for its wide range of edible fats products.
The certification covers the company’s margarine, butter, shortening and ghee. Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce Manniram Prashad highlighted how important conforming to such standards would be for the development of SPL and local industries in general. He urged business persons to actively participate in standards-related activities which will equip them with relevant information on emerging trends and changing practices.
“…the most important thing this achievement says about us is not that we are special, rather the most important thing it says is that we are committed to providing our customers with the best products produced at international standards,” Chief Executive Officer of SPL, Ramsay Ali, was quoted by the Government Information Agency (GINA) as saying.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the company’s Board of Directors, Dr. Leslie Chin, noted that SPL agreed to the standardization process “at a time of global financial difficulty and that it was the right decision, because lowering costs, improving efficiency and creating value are always the goals of a business.”
