President Bharrat Jagdeo, on behalf of Guyana, has expressed sincere condolences to the people of Poland on the tragic death of their head of state Lech Kaczynki.
Jagdeo described Kaczynki as a “great Statesman who championed the cause for the democracy and worked tirelessly in pursuit of economic and social justice for his people.” Guyana, he said, joined in paying tribute to the late Polish president.
In a letter to Poland Prime Minister Donald Tusk, Jagdeo asked that Guyana’s sympathies be passed on to Kaczynki’s grieving relatives and to the families of those officials who also perished in the tragic plane crash.
Poland’s president, its central bank head and military chief were among 97 people who were killed when their plane crashed in thick fog near a Russian airport on Saturday.
