Stabroek Market continued their dominance over Fashion Store of Robb Street in the Golyn and Sons T20 softball cricket competition, when it came out on top by six runs in their semi-final match on Friday evening.
On Friday evening at the Bourda Cricket Ground, Stabroek Market won the toss, took first strike and reached a competitive score of 168-7 at the end of their allotted overs. In reply, Fashion Store rallied to 162-8 when the overs expired.
Arnold Deo led the way for Stabroek Market with an entertaining 36, which included three sixes and a four, while the experienced Royston ‘Don’ Ramsarran chipped in with a responsible 22.
The right-handed Ramsarran hit two sixes and the same number of fours, while Rickey Persaud supported with 17.Skipper of the Fashion Store team Ravie Narine grabbed four wickets for 24 runs from his allotted five overs. Nicky Persaud was also among the wicket-takers claiming two scalps.
When Fashion Store batted, opener Shawn Isaacs struck an impressive 45, which was laced with four sixes and two fours, while the in form Ryan Chung patiently scored 35 runs with a six and a four.
Man-of-the-Match Ramsarran bagged 3 – 15 runs from five tidy overs, and Rajesh Singh supported with 2 – 17 off his five overs.
The winning team and the man-of-the-match were awarded trophies.
Stabroek Market will now contest the final at a venue and date to be announced later.
