A Berbice man who was found with marijuana at a Fort Wellington road block was on Wednesday sentenced to three years imprisonment after he admitted to trafficking in 100 grammes of the narcotic.
Victor Kippings, 38, of Number 28 Village, West Coast Berbice (WCB) appeared in the Fort Wellington Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Nigel Hawke.
He pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking which was committed on Wednesday.
According to reports, on the day in question a road block was set up in front of the Fort Wellington Police Station and a Route 50 minibus was subsequently stopped.
Kippings was seated in the front passenger seat. A search of a bag he was carrying unearthed a quantity of marijuana.
