Forty-two-year-old Trevor Smithet of North Cummingsburg yesterday admitted at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court that he had used abusive language towards a police corporal at the Central Immigration and Passport Office.
He pleaded guilty to the charge when Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson read it to him.
He admitted that on April 6, at the Central Immigration and Passport Office, he used abusive remarks towards a police corporal.
Smithet stated that he was keeping a space for his friend by standing in line at the Passport Office when the corporal approach-ed him and cautioned him about the short pants that he was wearing.
He stated that they soon got into an argument which resulted in him using some insulting remarks towards the corporal.
The magistrate then ordered that he pay a fine of $10,000 or serve four months imprisonment.
