(Trinidad Express) – Prime Minister Patrick Manning issued a release from his office at 1.05 pm yesterday, advising President George Maxwell Richards to issue a writ of election, appointing Monday, May 24, 2010, as the date of the general election.

This comes after the Prime Minister advised President Richards to dissolve parliament under section 68 of the constitution last week Thursday (April 8).

In yesterday’s release, the Prime Minister stated that nomination day will be on Monday, May 3.
