The Guyana Police Force is responding to an article published in the Sunday Chronicle on April 11, 2010, under the caption ‘Victims suspect ‘Faeces Gang.’’ The article dealt with the concern being expressed by residents of Canal Number Two Polder, WBD, over recent burglaries in the community.
The police wish to state that seven reports of breakage within the community have been received by the police for the period March 1 to April 10, 2010. While investigations are continuing, so far three persons have been charged and placed before the courts in relation to the incidents.
Shameer Khan, 28 years of Patentia Housing Scheme, was charged with break and enter and larceny committed on the home of Jairam Latchman of Canal No 2 and appeared before Magistrate Ann McLennon at the Wales Magistrate Court on March 18, 2010, where he was remanded to prison. Also Terrence August, 30 years of Sussex Street, Charles-town, and Pooran Nakaloo, 29 years of James Street, Albouystown, have been charged with break and enter and larceny committed on the home of Shalini Sookram of Patentia Housing Scheme, WBD, and appeared before Magis-trate Ann McLennon at the Wales Magistrate Court on March 19, 2010, where they were remanded to prison.
Meanwhile, the police have increased their patrols within the community.
