Simone King, also known as Dianne De Nobrega, was read two new charges of obtaining money by false pretence yesterday when she appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson.
The prosecutor told the court that the statements for De Nobrega’s matters before the court were not ready and that two new charges were being instituted.
On March 30, King was read charges relating to 12 counts of fraudulent conversion in an alleged motorcar scam.
She had pleaded not guilty to all 12 charges.
Defence counsel Gordon Gilhuys asked whether advice was sought from the DPP on the matters.
In response Police Prosecutor Inspector Stephen Telford said that no written advice was given as yet.
The matter was adjourned to May 28 for advice and statements.
The new charges read that between December 3 and January 19, she obtained from Babzie Mangru the sum of $1.4 million by pretending to be in a position to acquire one long-base RZ 15-seater minibus knowing same to be false.
Further on December 19, she obtained $300,000 from Chetram Takchandra in order to obtain one 15-seater minibus.
She pleaded not guilty to the charges. Bail was refused and the matter will resume on May 28.
