Last Sunday (April 18), the water mains went dry in the Non Pareil area and the people are all desperate and frustrated; it has been at least five days now and counting, and the situation is unbearable.
Apparently a major installation (or re-installation) had to be done at Coldingen, and there are related challenges that must be rectified by GPL.
The GWI people knew that it would take at least 1-3 days to fix the problem. Could they not have informed the residents with an ad in the media indicating that there would be a water interruption which could possibly last three days? The residents would have been then more prepared for this disruption.
GWI should have taken measures to ensure that residents had adequate water for their basic needs by having fire-engine type tanks distribute water.
One would assume that considering the desperate water situation, the GWI and GPL personnel would have worked on the installation 24-7. But perhaps those in charge do not quite understand the desperation, gloom and frustration of the people, hence they have no sense of urgency. For them personally, I believe, there is a lot of water – and lots to drink!
