Police seeking ‘Motorbike Man’ for slitting man’s throat

Investigators are still seeking the man who cut Ramdass Ramnarine on his neck last Sunday evening.

Ramnarine, 25, of Lot 5 Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital after a part of his neck was cut during a fight at Tuschen Sunday evening. He was discharged on Monday.

Ramnarine said that his assailant, ‘Motorbike Man,’ had three months ago lashed him with a cutlass at a rum shop in the community. He said he did not see him again until Sunday when he questioned him regarding the incident. He said they argued and the man left. According to Ramnarine, the assailant’s wife approached and asked what was wrong and he was talking with her when he observed the assailant returning. He said it was dark at the time and the man came up to him and slashed him in the throat.

He did not see the weapon used. The incident occurred around 7:15pm that evening. A relative had told this newspaper on Sunday night that they rushed Ramnarine to the Leonora Diagnostic Centre but medical personnel there did not want to treat him, reportedly because they did not have gauze to bandage the wound. It also took a long time for the ambulance to bring him to the GPH, the relative had said.

Police have not yet arrested the assailant who was said to have gone into hiding.
