There is a pitbull at the Alberttown Police Station tied to a chair for the past month awaiting word from the DPP’s office. His crime? Two persons are claiming ownership.

The question is why have a voiceless creature suffering? Why can’t a mediator be called in to speak with both ‘owners’? Why can’t there be proper facilities at police stations to keep animals when situations like this happen? Many times, animals are impounded and there are no proper facilities at the station to keep these poor unfortunate creatures in a humane manner.

Exactly one year ago, I wrote a letter about dogs tied up in the rain after I saw a news clip on Prime News. These animals are still suffering – in the rain and sun.

The GSPCA should get the police to go after the owner and hold him accountable. These dogs are suffering not far from the GSPCA and everyone has turned a blind eye and deaf ear to their cries.

From the amount of suffering meted out to the innocent voiceless creatures in our country, we can judge the moral progress and greatness of this nation.
