The bus driver who was stabbed by a conductor after a row between the two is said to be “recovering speedily” in the High Dependency Unit of the Georgetown Public Hospital.
Shawn Atkins, 38, of 38 East La Penitence sustained a punctured a lung after he was stabbed twice by a conductor after an argument broke out between them on Monday.
The argument was over a parking space and the stabbing occurred at the Route 47 bus park. According to Leon Atkins, 52, his brother is a driver who operates a Route 47 minibus and was at the bus park which is alongside Salt and Pepper on Longden Street when he got into an argument with a conductor over a parking space.
When Leon intervened he was slashed across the throat. He said yesterday that he is too is “doing okay”. However, the man was upset with the report that the conductor was caught and in police custody. He said that while the police were on the scene at the time of the stabbing, the conductor managed to escape and police are currently searching for him.
