ST. JOHN’S, Antigua, CMC – Omar Phillips has replaced Adrian Barath in the West Indies A team for their upcoming tour of Bangladesh.
The West Indies Cricket Board announced on Thursday that the left-handed opening batsman has been included in the 14-member squad, following the withdrawal of fellow opener Adrian Barath with an injured right knee.
“[Barath] will remain [at home] in Trinidad to do rehabilitation work,” said a media release from the WICB.
The 23-year-old Phillips plays regionally for the Combined Campuses & Colleges.
He made his Test debut in July last year, when he made 94 in his first Test innings against the Bangladeshis in St. Vincent.
Phillips has so far played two Tests with 160 runs at an average of 40, but his appearances in the last regional first-class season were limited because of an injury.
Revised squad:
Travis Dowlin (captain), Lionel Baker, Darren Bravo, Odean Brown, Kirk Edwards, Justin Guillen, Imran Khan, Brendan Nash, Nelon Pascal, Omar Phillips, Shane Shillingford, Devon Smith, Gavin Tonge, Chadwick Walton
