The GBTI Regent Street Branch on Thursday concluded another round of its Inter-secondary School Impromptu Speaking Competition with School of the Nations and St John’s College defeating their competitors.

In the first round, School of the Nations defeated Queens College 680 to 628. Nation’s topics were plants have feelings too, the benefits of a healthy diet and you can learn much about a person by the way they dress.

Queen’s College meanwhile had selected reading is the best form of relaxation, internet chat rooms and the importance of family.

In the second round of the competition when St John’s College took on Christ Church Secondary, St John’s won by a 26 points margin. St John’s scored 546 while Christ Church scored 522 points.

The topics selected by St John’s College were who would you like to be for one day and why, private schools and the most interesting Guyanese food; while Christ Church selected three keys to a happy life, goals are good for you and every yard should have a kitchen garden, as their topics.

Judging this leg of the competition were Bernadette Persaud, Abiola Inniss and Bonita Hunter.

Meanwhile on Tuesday, Richard Ishmael Secondary will go against the Institute of Business Education to conclude the first round.
