A brilliant all-round performance from Guyana under-15 player Shailendra Shameer helped Port Mourant to victory against Johanna Young Ivory (JYI) in the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) organized Spready’s Bakery Under-19, limited overs cricket competition recently.
Shameer struck 84, Joshua Ramsammy 79 and Sasenarine Ernest an unbeaten 56 in Port Mourant’s 277 – 3 in 40 overs.
They then bundled out JYI for 70 in just 20 overs with Shameer leading the way with a miserly bowling spell of 4 – 1.
Meanwhile, Nazrudeen Bux’s 63, Surendra Kissoonlall’s 68 and Lionel Lewis with an unbeaten 56, propelled Rose Hall Town Pepsi B to 249 – 5 in 30 overs.
Rising Star was bowled out for 97 in reply with 10-year-old off-spinner, Veerasammy Sewansi, capturing 3 – 12.
In the Kennard’s Memorial versus No. 43 Scorpion clash, pacer Damiel Collins bagged 6 – 25 from six overs for Kennard’s Memorial as No. 43 Scorpion fell for 100 in 21 overs.
Kennard’s went on to comfortably win by six wickets.
At Whim Ground, Vickram Sooknanan had a match-winning, all-round performance for Whim Nationals against Tamarind Root scoring 55 and then picking up 2- 10.
Whim Nationals batted first and posted 171 in 30 overs with Dilip Rangasammy bagging 5 – 24 for Tamarind Root, who, in reply, were bundled out for 120 in 17 overs.
