A 55-year-old security guard of Whim Village, Corentyne was yesterday afternoon in a semi-conscious state at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) after he was attacked by several intruders at his work site.
Kishore Sewdat’s relatives told this newspaper yesterday that the man was found lying motionless at a rice bond in the Letter Kenny area on the Corentyne Public Road by his employers around 3 am yesterday.
His son-in-law related that during the early hours of yesterday he received a phone call from Kishore’s employer; the caller related that Kishore was attacked by thieves who escaped with several items including a chainsaw, a sewing machine and several bags of paddy from the bond.
He said when he arrived at the scene several police officers were carrying out investigations as persons from the area were being questioned.
The man stated that he travelled to the New Amsterdam Public hospital where his father-in-law was admitted a patient.
Kishore‘s face was badly bruised and according to his relative, “they give he nuff blows to the face”. He said Kishore sustained a gaping wound to the chin and according to him the injured man may have lost a lot of blood.
Kishore was subsequently transferred to the GPH yesterday around 8 am and he was immediately taken to the main operating theatre upon his arrival.
This newspaper understands that one person was arrested in the village of Ulverston, located several miles away from the scene of the incident, while another escaped on seeing the police.
Several items were also recovered by the police yesterday.
