– accused tells court
“I think she got the wrong person, I never thief in me life,” were the words of Brian Williams who was charged with one count of robbery from the person on Monday in Court One of the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.
Williams denied the charge that on March 16 he robbed Wanda Daniels of one gold chain valued $40,000.
Daniels said that on the day in question, she was walking in the vicinity of the South Ruimveldt bus park when she felt a hand at her neck and by the time she turned, her chain had already been snatched by the defendant who ran away. A few days later while in the area again, she said she saw Williams and promptly made a report to the police who arrested him.
Williams said that Daniels has wrongfully accused him of the crime.
He was then placed on $60,000 bail and the matter set down for June 21 in Court Two.
