The Alliance For Change (AFC) yesterday rejected reports that the party’s former Chief Executive Officer, Peter Ramsaroop was asked to resign from the post, saying his resignation was submitted during the first quarter of this year following an Organisa-tion and Management Review.
The party referred to recent reports in the press on the issue calling them “erroneous” and disclosing that it commissioned the review earlier this year as part of its ongoing preparations for the upcoming elections. Ramsaroop is currently facing allegations that he spied on a tenant; he has denied them saying he was being attacked on political grounds.
The AFC said the consultancy report, which came out of the review, had recommended that the functions and responsibilities of the CEO be reposed in the Office of the General Secretary. It noted that Ramsaroop submitted his resignation from the position “in order to allow the smooth transition and implementation of the recommendations contained in that report, and re-assignment under the new dispensation. The party said Ramsaroop remains a member of the AFC.
With respect to the allegations Ramsaroop is facing, the party expressed shock and called for a thorough and professional investigation “free from political direction”. The AFC said too that it will pay special attention to the manner in which the investigation is conducted, noting it expects Ramsaroop will be afforded all the rights to which he is entitled as a citizen.
