Magistrate Ann McLennan on Tuesday told Blue Berry Hill resident Kendrick Semple who is accused of carnal knowledge that a case had been made out against him so he was being committed to stand trial at the High Court.
On July 23, 2008 at Blue Berry Hill, Semple, 43, reportedly had carnal knowledge of a 14-year-old girl.
When asked if he had anything to say Semple told the court that on the day in question the teenager was visiting his residence to assist with chores. He further stated that he left the house and upon his return the teen was not there.
Semple said he inquired about her whereabouts and later found her at a man’s house in the neighbourhood. The accused said that he along with the teen had a confrontation and he gave her several lashes.
According to the carnal knowledge accused, the girl’s mother was informed about everything that occurred on the day in question.
However, Semple’s account of what occurred on July 23, 2008 made no reference to any incident of sexual abuse.
