When Demerara and Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC) allrounder Kellon Carmichael left for Trinidad & Tobago to play professional cricket in late January, he had more success with the ball until he stroke an unbeaten 62 against Barataria on Sunday in Carib League 50-over competition.
Aranguez, batting after winning the toss, compiled 330-6 from 45 overs with Carmichael stroking 10 boundaries in his top score of 62. He was supported by Faizul Mohammed’s 52 and Safraz Lalloo’s 46.
In reply Barataria were bowled out for 157 with 14-year-old Triston Singh taking 4-20 and Carmichael, returning with the ball, got figures of 2-25.
With that win Aranguez have moved into the quarter-finals on May 29 after winning all five of their preliminary round games.
On Saturday, when Aranguez played Defence Force in the game reduced to 30 overs due to overnight rain, Defence Force sent Aranguez to bat and they made 180-8 from their allotted overs. Lalloo made 56 and Isaac Kennedy contributed 46.
In response, Defence Force were restricted to 176-7 from their 30 overs. According to reports coming out of T&T, Defence Force needed seven runs to win from the last over and Carmichael was entrusted with the task and he did not disappoint.
Using his experience, variation with good block hole bowling, he only conceded three runs from the over.
