Guyana’s bantamweight champion and multiple holder of international boxing titles Leon ‘Hurry Up” Moore has leapt to number three in the world ratings.
Moore’s manager Carwyn Holland said he recently met with some World Boxing Association (WBA) Officials and put forward a case for Moore to be pushed up the rankings and he has now confirmed that Moore is ranked number three.
Moore had moved up to number 10 earlier this year after capturing the Pan-Asian Boxing Association PABA super bantamweight title in Singapore and later moved to number six. Holland says his intention is to get Moore a world title fight as soon as he recovers from his hand injury.
Moore is currently in the USA on a short training stint and is expected back in Guyana sometime in June.
Panamanian Celestino Caballero is the WBA super bantamweight champion while Poonsawat Kratingdaeng of Thailand is the regular champion.
The number one spot remains vacant while Ricardo Cordoba is one place ahead of Moore at number two. The World Boxing Council (WBC) has Moore rated at number six ever since his classical victory over former world champion Mauricio Pastrana last September on a card co-promoted by his manager Holland.
