The Permanent Representative of St Kitts and Nevis to the OAS recently handed over to Haiti and Chile, the funds Caricom collected for the victims of the earthquakes that struck both countries on January 12 and February 27 respectively.
According to a press release Ambassador Izben C Williams said though the funds were not substantial sums they represent a “symbolic amount” and a show of solidarity in the hemisphere during a period of tragedy. The money was collected in memory of the victims of the earthquakes during a church service he described as “a remarkable occasion in showing our oneness and our commitment to be there for our brethren in all circumstances.” Haiti and Chile are both members of the Organisation of American States (OAS).
