Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the escape of a prisoner who was arrested last week in relation to possession of an unlicensed firearm in a vehicle.
David Andrews, 30 years of Williamsburg, Corentyne, escaped from the Rosehall Police Outpost on Saturday evening. He was one of five men who were arrested by the police at Rosehall on Thursday last after the unlicensed firearm and two toque masks were found in the vehicle in which they were travelling.
A police constable is under close arrest as the investigations continue.
