A man sustained pellet injuries during a confrontation with two armed bandits who had invaded his Canje home on Sunday night.
They later escaped with jewellery and cash. Up to press time no one had been held.
Police said in a press release yesterday that around 23:45 hrs two men, one of whom was armed with a shotgun, broke into the home of salesman Vijai Narine, 37, of East Canefield, Canje, Berbice.
As the men entered the home they were confronted by Narine and the armed man discharged a round which caused Narine to receive pellet injuries to his right hand. The perpetrators then held up Narine and his wife Indira and took away a quantity of jewellery, a cell phone and $100,000 and escaped.
Narine was treated at the New Amsterdam Hospital and investigations are continuing, the release said.
