BRIGETOWN, Barbados, CMC – Six players with West Indies experience have been named in a 37-man training squad for the regional Twenty20 tournament slated for July.
The squad includes left arm spinner Sulieman Benn, wicketkeeper Patrick Browne, all rounder Ryan Hinds, explosive opener Dale Richards, speedster Kemar Roach and all-rounder Dwayne Smith.
The Barbados Cricket Association said in a release other players could be added to the training squad depending on performances.
“Players other than those selected in the initial squad e.g. those who are on professional contracts overseas or who give outstanding performances during the Sagicor Twenty20 competition will still be considered for selection,” the release stated.
This opens the door for right arm fast bowler Tino Best who is currently on duty with English county Yorkshire until the end of May. Left-handed opener Omar Phillips and Kirk Edwards are also currently overseas on the West Indies A team tour of Bangladesh.
The BCA also said outlined a strict criterion for selection, while also noting that players chosen for the West Indies Cricket Board High Performance Centre would not be available for selection.
