A man who was making his way home on the East Bank last evening was hit by a minibus whose driver was said to be under the influence.
Nazir Mohammed, 32, of 22 Norton Street, Bagotstown, East Bank Demerara told Stabroek News last night while awaiting treatment at the Accident and Emergency Unit of the Georgetown Public Hospital that he was walking on the Public Road when the bus swerved and hit him.
The driver of the bus, he said, picked him up after the passengers in the bus complained.
He was taken to the hospital by the driver.
Mohammed sustained what appeared to be a deep wound over the eye and had gashes and bruises about his body. He was badly shaken by the incident.
The driver, this newspaper was told was held by the police at the hospital outpost but was later released.
