Minister of Education Shaik Baksh on Friday announced that the schools Physical Education (PE) Programme will be expanded, in his address at the opening of the Schools’ Physical Display National Championships at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
Baksh said about 300 students are currently writing the subject at the CXC exams. He also commended the participants for their eagerness and encouraged them to strive for excellence, a Government Information Agency (GINA) press release said.
The Championships entailed a display of gymnastic movements put together for artistic expression and was held in honour of Guyana’s 44th Independence Anniversary. About 600 children from primary and secondary schools across the country presented combination and pyramid displays during the exercise.
