Tutorial High School emerged victorious when teachers on the executive arm of the East Georgetown District launched its season with a domino competition on Wednesday at the Guyana Teachers’ Union (GTU) headquarters, Woolford Avenue.
Chase Academy placed second and St Joseph’s High School third in the contest, which was co-sponsored by Nigel’s Supermarket and the GTU.
In the individual category, Tutorial High teacher Ron Tappin, was judged the best male player while St Joseph’s Savitri Badwattie earned the distinction among the females.
The winners received trophies in the event which will now be added to the GTU’s calendar.
Executive member Rawle Duke, said the competition was the first in a series of sporting events to come. He said already there are plans to host the annual Schools’ Track and Field championships for the Christmas term which starts in September. An Inter-Schools’ Cricket Tournament for teachers will be held later in the year.
