Special Constables manning the baggage scanner at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Timehri at about 10.25 am yesterday conducted a search on a “checked-in suitcase”. They discovered a .44 Magnum revolver with 15 rounds and 1 kilogramme 109 grammes of cocaine concealed in the baggage.
A man and woman, passengers on the LIAT flight, were subsequently arrested and further investigations led to the arrest of two other men and another female. They are all in police custody assisting with the investigations.
