PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC – Blair Wynne scored a first-half hat-trick to propel Trinidad and Tobago to a crushing 9-0 defeat of Guyana in their senior women’s international friendly at the National Hockey Centre on Friday night.
The reigning Caribbean champions, T&T wasted little time in grabbing the lead through Stacey Siu Butt who fired in the opener after only four minutes.
Wynne then snatched control of the match for the hosts with two quick field goals in the ninth and 14th minute before Siu Butt added her second 10 minutes later for a 4-0 cushion.
Wynne, completed her hat-trick in the 29th minute with another field goal before Tonia-Marie James, one of six overseas-based players in the national women’s team training squad, slammed in a sixth on the stroke of half-time.
On the resumption, the T&T women continued to dominate and added three more goals, one from another US-based player in Teresa Lezama (40th) and a double from Nicole Aming (44th, 59th).
Both T&T and Guyana are using the matches as part of their preparations for the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games scheduled for Puerto Rico from July 17 to August 1.
