Alfred King and Dwayne Lovell were returned as president and treasurer respectively when the Guyana Football Referees’ Council (GFRC) held its annual general meeting Sunday at the Carifesta Sports Complex.
Dion Inniss, who previously served as assistant secretary/treasurer, was elected senior vice president and Carlos Bernard junior vice president.
The new secretary is Troy Peters with Elson Khirattie serving as assistant secretary/treasurer.
The committee members are Ingram Johnson, Stanley Lancaster and Venton Mars.
The council also paid tribute to long-serving football referee/instructor Lawrence ‘Sparrow’ Griffith who was appointed honorary member for his contribution to the body.
Griffith served previously as a senior vice president but declined to be re-elected.
King, a Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, called on referees to work closely to improve the work of the council.
He said the council needed to find new partnership with other organizations including the business community as well as to push its membership drive.
Referees from Linden, Berbice, East Coast Demerara, Bartica, West Demerara and Georgetown attended the meeting.
Vanessa Dickinson, Guyana Football Federation (GFF) assistant secretary – administration served as returning officer.
