The Guyana Tourism Authority (GTA) on Friday conducted a training seminar for taxi drivers and dispatchers from the Sheriff, Green Ice and R & T taxi services in order to raise the level of services provided to customers.
GTA’s Director Indranauth Haralsingh who conducted the session held at the authority’s head office, Sophia, said that the aim was to reinforce knowledge and skills which play a vital role in improving services to customers, a press release from the Government Information Agency (GINA) stated.
Some of the key issues dealt with were the role of a taxi service, demand, duties and responsibilities, elements of good service and the way to “wow” customers.
The GTA director noted that drivers and dispatchers must be aware of cultures and cuisine in order to improve services since much has changed over the years, resulting in a general and increasing demand for public transportation.
“Transport in Guyana is one of the cheapest rates compared to taxi cabs around the world. In Guyana the services are used frequently and as such customers should get value for their money,” Haralsingh is quoted by GINA as saying.
He urged drivers to be professional and to improve on their code of conduct, while at all times being helpful to passengers and honest, polite, and respectful, since their attitude depicts the service, the release said.
