Dear Editor,
There is nothing that would give anyone more of a blast-out laugh than seeing two athletes battling it out with maximum speed at the end of a race because they did not want to come last.
I had such a laugh with the 5000m (male) at the just concluded under 23 track meeting sponsored by Digicel and supported by a few private companies at the Police Ground on Sunday, May 30.
As we would say in local terms, ‘If you see speed’ – speed like two jaguars in the wild.
An impressive performance was showcased by Ms Neisa Allen; she has amazing height which I believe could be to her advantage and hopefully take her many places. She reminds me so much of a former US track star/icon of mine, Marion Jones.
Chavez Sital was also impressive with his third place finish in the 1500m. I urge his club manager/coach to work with him and he could become the next track star of that particular race.
Turning to a different sports fraternity, well done to the entire Guyanese team which did extremely well for the Golden Arrowhead in Barbados at the WIFBSC Short Range Team Championship (Wray & Nephew Anchor Cup). I am now wondering, with these kinds of performance, doesn’t it qualify them for the Olympic Games?
Yours faithfully,
T Pemberton
