Republic Bank mortgage campaign winners collect prizes

Republic Bank (Guyana) Ltd yesterday presented winners of its ‘Low Cost Mortgage Campaign’ with $1 million at the bank’s head office in New Market Street.

Geralda and Thomas Peters of Queenstown, Essequibo Coast were the lucky home owners to receive the grand prize towards their Republic Bank loan. The couple expressed gratitude to Republic Bank saying the money is going to help “a great lot”.

A teacher and a driver, the couple applied for a home loan to renovate their home. Geralda said that being a home owner was not easy but the bank’s help would assist her family a great deal in the completion of their home.

Also receiving her prize was Pamela Das who was the winner for the month of March. She won a Panasonic Home Theatre System. Das said she was grateful to the bank.

And absent from the simple ceremony was Shellon Bovell who was the prize winner for February. She won a Samsung 32” LCD television.

The competition began in February when the bank launched its Low Cost Mortgage which provides up to $8 million with interest as low as 4.95% to persons who want to purchase land and construct residential property under the Government of Guyana Low Income Housing Plan.

The competition concluded on April 30. However the Low Cost Mortgage campaign continues until July 30. Prizes were handed out by the Denise Hobbs the general manger of the Corporate and Management Services and Patricia Plummer, general manager for Credit, who presented the Peterses with the grand prize.

Marketing Manager of Republic Bank Michelle Johnson thanked the customers for making Republic Bank their bank of choice and congratulated the winners. She said the bank is the first to have such a campaign while adding that the bank’s rates remain the lowest on the market.
