Dear Editor,
Passengers travelling the Bartica-Parika route by speedboat are fed up with the high freight cost they have to pay for personal luggage and boxes and cartons; the price is soaring. An association should be formed to represent travellers named the Bartica Speedboat Travellers’ Association.
We the travellers would like to know how much hand luggage and pounds we are entitled to, and a scale should be placed both at Parika and Bartica where baggage should be weighed. Passengers would pay for overweight at a rate fixed between the Speedboat Association and the Travellers’ Association. I am calling on respected and responsible persons to come forward and let us form this association.
Secondly, Guyana Water Inc in Bartica is not performing as it should. I will not go further; thank God for the rain so that housewives could cook and wash. GWI please explain to our community what is going on.
As for flooding, Fourth and Fifth Avenues flood when the tide is high because the seawall is cracked and river water seeps in and floods nearby. It is the bottom flat residents of Fourth and Fifth Avenues who usually suffer.
Yours faithfully,
Winston Miller Sr
