Call for education review
There has been a call for a review of the Caribbean’s education system to better address the needs of students.
Director of Social Development in the OECS, James Fletcher, says the high incidence of dropouts and increasing repetition rates is a cause for concern.
Dr Fletcher says there is a disconnect between children and teaching in some instances, and the system should be re-examined from early childhood to tertiary.
He added that the review should not only address exams but supoprt services as well.
Fletcher was speaking at a UNICEF mid-term review meeting in St Kitts.
