The only bit of drama at last night’s weigh-in at the Princess Hotel was the pawing between Gwendolyn `Stealth Bomber’ O’Neil and Veronica Blackman.
The two pugilists kept pawing at each other until they were warned to “keep it for the real fight.”
Whether they will do so tonight is anyone’s guess but the two female fighters will fight for the vacant Women’s International Boxing Association (WIBA) light heavyweight title in the main supporting bout of the card.
Tonight’s main event will be between Guyana‘s ‘Deadly’ Denny Dalton and Puerto Rico’s Hector ‘Machito’ Camacho.
Dalton and Camacho last night weighed in at 159lbs and 160lbs respectively.
And, WIBA bantamweight champion Shondell ‘Mystery Lady’ Alfred, who will be in the blue corner, tipped the scale at 116lbs.
Challenger Corinne ‘Sexy Panther’ Van Ryck De Groot was two pounds heavier at 118lbs.
Elton ‘The Real Coolie Bully’ Dharry and Orlon ‘Pocket Rocket’ Rogers tipped the scales at 118lbs and 112lbs respectively.
And since there are two sanctioning bodies in World Boxing Foundation (WBF) and Women’s International Boxing Association (WIBA) the unified Association Boxing Commission (ABC) rules will apply.
Dalton and Camacho will clash tonight for the vacant World Boxing Foundation (WBF) Intercontinental middleweight title.
While Dalton has fought the likes of Andrew ‘Sixhead’ Lewis, Mihaly Kotai, and Howard ‘Battersea Bomber’ Eastman, Camacho Jr., son of the legendary fighter, Hector “Macho” Camacho, can prove his ultimate challenge so far.
Camacho is a quick, tactical boxer with great counter punching skills.
Dalton, on the other hand, possesses a ‘deadly’ right hand and is as tough as nails.
Camacho’s record stands at: 51 wins, with 28 of those coming by the knockout route, three losses with one draw.
Dalton, on the other hand, has only fought 25 times and has 16 wins, eight losses and a drawn contest; he has kayoed 11 opponents.
In another bout Junior Commonwealth Games silver medallist Clevon Rock will take on rising star Nandkumar Singh of the Republican Gym.
