Designer Andrew Harris has named a Barbadian male model as the face of his clothing line following a recent media blitz to find someone who best represents the brand.
Model Kyle Selman, 20, emerged winner of the competition, which was spread across several Caribbean countries for two months. The public voted and the models had to complete several tasks before a winner was declared. Daryl Franklyn of St Vincent finished a close second.
A press release from Harris’s label, AHMW [Andrew Harris Men’s Wear] said the objective of the search was to select a male, who would best represent all that the AHMW label embodies. The release quoted Selman as saying that certain qualities of his set him apart from the others.
“I believe I should be the next Andrew Harris Designs cover model because I exhibit all the qualities a cover model should posses. I’m handsome, confident strong-willed and passionate. Andrew Harris designs will help me boldly portray these qualities,” Selman said. He continued that every man should wear Andrew Harris designs because of they are unique, well tailored and superior quality clothing.
The release mentioned that the Guyanese contenders for one reason or another opted out of the competition, while others were disqualified for failure to present their task, meeting the criterion in the selection of the quarter finalists.
Andrew Harris, who shot to fame after winning the inaugural Designer’s Porfolio which was launched by Sonia Noel, is set to launch his AHMW Spring /Summer 2010 collection in Barbados where he has since relocated. He is currently home in Guyana on official business. The press release added that exciting things are expected from the AHMW camp this year.
