Employees of the Agricola Post Office arrived at work yesterday morning only to discover that three safes were broken into and an undisclosed amount of cash was missing.
Up to late last evening no information on the burglary committed some time between Friday night and early yesterday morning was released by police. However a senior police official said that an investigation has been launched into the matter.
According to the reports reaching Stabroek News two of the safes were opened with the use of a blow torch while a key was apparently used on the third.
Over the years this post office has been the constant target of burglars and armed bandits.
