Floyd Haynes, of the Washington-based Newton Group, has been identified as the person who commissioned the recent Caribbean Development Research Ser-vices Inc (CADRES) poll.
Stabroek News has learnt that Haynes, who is married to former AFC MP Chantelle Smith, has also held discussions with several political parties here.
The March 2010 poll has found that the governing PPP/Civic continues to command the single largest bloc of voters but has lost major support since the last general election.
The poll also found that while no single opposition force currently commands a majority, an alliance between the parties could see a favourable result.
The poll measured the PPP/Civic’s overall support at 38%, the PNCR at 31% and the AFC at 26%, representing a drop of 16%, 3% and a gain of 18%, respectively.
CADRES has not named the client responsible for commissioning the poll, although permission was given for the release of its findings. CADRES’ Director of Research Peter Wickham had said that none of the political parties or the political party leaders had anything to do with the poll.
