– court hears
A man who was accused of stealing over 1,000 CDs from his employer was granted $100,000 bail yesterday by Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson.
Cion Wharton, 28, of 39 Samaroo Dam, Pouderoyen, West Bank Demerara, being employed by Reeaz Ali as a clerk/servant, allegedly stole 1,168 CDs valued at $350,400 between August 16 and 31, 2009, being articles received by him out of the possession of his employer.
Wharton was represented by Attorney-at-law Paul Fung-A-Fat who told the court that his client has been employed by Ali for the past five years as a salesman/disc jockey.
He added that three persons have access to the area in which the items are kept. He asked for reasonable bail to be granted.
Wharton was granted bail and the matter put down for July 23 in Court 10.
