Monedderlust will face Rosignol in the final of the Berbice Football Association (BFA) organized Coca Cola knockout tournament on Saturday at the Blairmont Community Development Centre Ground.
The two teams reached the final by defeating New Amsterdam United and Cougars 2 – 0 and 1 – 0 respectively on Sunday at the same venue.
In the first match which began at 2pm, former two-time league champions, Monedderlust, overcame early scares and forced errors from their youthful opponents to secure a comfortable victory in the end.
Marlon Welcome opened the scoring for Monedderlust in the 17th minute after getting past the advancing goalkeeper, Javano Luiz.
Monedderlust led 1-0 at half time.
In the second half Erwin Johnson’s shot from midfield caught Luiz off of his line and found the back of the net.
Rosignol United, the second seeded team in the National Super League, needled a rampaging Cougars team.
The two teams battled for most of the match without success but in the 80th minute Cornel Taylor scored a spectacular goal which was all Rosignol United.
