Twenty-one children will compete for the top spot when GT&T’s Cellink KidStage talent show hosts its final at the Theatre Guild on Sunday, June 13.
According to a press release more than 250 children from ages four to 14, from across the country competed in several categories such as dance, music and drama. Those contesting the finals are Schemona Trinidad and the Sunbeam Dancers from Berbice, Alpha Henry, Shaquille Boyd and Children of Paradise from Linden, Anurada Frank, T’Shanna Cort and Melique Bowen from Essequibo. Nia Allen, Osei Clarke, Faith Currica, Johanna Singh, Alphius Bookie, Alyaih Semple, the North Georgetown Dancers, Taiesha Cox, Melissa King, Naiomi Alsopp, Akeeda Waul, Jovinski Thorne, Dexter Nelson and Stephan Ageda from Region Four are also contesting the finals.
Children in the age four to seven category will perform as a group for exhibition purposes as the producers deemed them too young for the rigours of the elimination round. The competitors are Mya Caesar, Elisha Mohamed, Tamara Innis, Prince Cozier, Sapherina Hamer, Lateifa Agard, Kanton Kirton, Acacia Fortune, Shenizia Khan, Alistear Thomas, Kia David, Mysiha Griffith, Danesha McIntosh, Stephana Wilson and Vadol Henry. The show starts at 4 pm.
The Guyana Telegraph and Telephone Company sponsored the programme which started in January. The initiative was the brainchild of Dr Paloma Mohamed of the University of Guyana’s Centre for Communication Studies worked with a large team of students from the Centre to produce the show. Desiree Wyles Ogle, Director of the Allied Arts Unit of the Ministry of Education is the executive producer of the show.
