Police in Berbice were yesterday still hunting for the killers of taxi driver Trevor Kissoon, who was murdered sometime early Thursday morning while on duty.
There were also no signs of Kissoon’s hijacked silver grey AT 212 Toyota Carina motorcar, HB 7489, and relatives remained baffled yesterday as to why persons would want to kill/murder him in such a brutal fashion. They are pleading with persons who may have information to come forward so that the killers would be brought to justice.
Kissoon, an employee of J & N Taxi Service at Main & Trinity Streets, New Amsterdam (NA), was killed while on duty for the 7 pm to 7 am shift. His battered remains were spotted in the trench at Bramsfield, No. 7 Road, Corentyne around 11:30 am on Thursday by a search team including the taxi service’s owner, Satish Rajaram and recovered around 1:30 pm. Some persons believe that the dead man may have been known to his killers because when the call was placed for a taxi around 10:50 pm on Wednesday, special requests were made for the “212 driver.”
A post-mortem on the remains which bore multiple wounds to his head, temple and above his eye would be conducted on Tuesday.
Kissoon set out on his duties to Sheet Anchor Turn at East Canje to do a pick up and then to Rose Hall followed by a drop off at Church View Hotel in NA. He also planned to return to base for a spare wheel before heading to Skeldon.
