Cops hunting armed duo who snatched lumberyard wages

Police are looking for two armed men who committed a daring daylight robbery at a Lombard Street lumberyard yesterday during which $700,000 that was to be used to pay wages, was snatched.

The robbers – one armed with a hand gun and the other with an ice pick pounced on checker Mohan Misir around 07:50 hours as he was walking into Dealer’s Lumber Yard.

According to a police press release investigations have revealed that Misir was entering the compound with a haversack containing $700,000, when he was held up by the two armed men who took away the cash and escaped.

Stabroek News was told that the men fled the area on foot.
