The Guyana Power and Light Company (GPL) is under real regulatory control of the Public Utilities Commission (PUC).
AFC MP Sheila Holder questioned in the National Assembly whether “there is any intention to bring the GPL under real, rather than nominal, regulatory control of the PUC.”
In a written response, Prime Minister Samuel Hinds, who holds responsibility for the energy sector, stated that GPL is under real regulatory control of the PUC. This, he said, is evident in “researching and studying records of all the interactions between the PUC and the GPL.”
